The UI Obermann Center for Advanced Studies presents its Obermann Conversations series, which features discussions and presentations by scholars on topics immediately relevant to University of Iowa research projects.
In this community conversation, two UI faculty and one community partner discuss housing in our area and its effects on health issues. Sally Scott, Barbara Baquero, and Maryann Dennis consider why affording a place to rent or buy in Iowa City is getting harder. Why is there a shortage of affordable housing, and what is the impact on families in Johnson County? Can we flip the stigma of 'low-income housing' on its head and think about affordable housing as an essential community asset?
